Málaga City
A real secret
Only 35 minutes away by car, or 45 minutes on the train, one of the big and delightful surprises of the area in Malaga city.
Founded by The Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago, the city today has a large historic quarter, lovely shops, excellent restaurants and bars as well as charming smaller establishments. There are very many historic buildings, museums and parks, while music comes in all forms from buskers and jazz to opera and even the city’s own orchestra.
The new port is simply stunning and a joy to walk around, again with many eateries, in fact, the whole city is an excellent walking place.
Keep an eye out on the web for endless cultural festivals that take place all year round, as this is not a tourist city but Spain’s 5th largest city. It worth considering getting a cheap, late hotel booking, training to the city and staying over as the Málaga buzzes in a delightful way well into the morning hours.
Truly Málaga has many things to do and once you have experienced it you will be drawn back time and time again and if you want to experience another city the new high-speed train takes you to Madrid in just over two hours with Granada, Seville and Cordoba also on quick train lines not far away.
